WANGI WORKERS NEWSLETTER SPRING  2008

Welcome members and guests to our latest Newsletter.

As you have probably noticed work on the upgrade of Market Street leading to the Wangi Shores Village is now close to completion and gives a much improved entrance to that facility as well as upgrading this area for local residents.

Sales of units are slower than we would have liked but this is understandable in the current financial climate. Never the less this facility will be a first class investment for the Club in the future and will significantly reduce our reliance on gaming revenue.

At time of printing there were 7 units occupied and deposits taken on a further 3.

Our footy tipping contest is coming to an end with the leading tipster as at  round 24 is Lawrence Metcalfe.

The barrel draws are proving a great success and give members an opportunity to win really useful prizes, so each time you enter the Club swipe your card and remember to place your entry in the barrel provided.  You must be present on the night of the draw to have the opportunity to collect one of these great prizes.

The Monthly Luncheon Cabaret is very popular with quality guest entertainers being presented by our hosts Phil and Amy Crawshaw the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Further details can be obtained from the office.

We hope you have noticed the new large screens in the TAB lounge and the new KENO display. We believe both these features are a big improvement.

Both the Fishing and Snooker Clubs are going well and always welcome new members so, if you are interested please talk to any one of the Directors or Staff and they will point you in the right direction .

Our CEO Phill is off on a study tour of the U.S. later in the year at no expense to the Club and we are sure he will return with some great ideas for the future.

Board nomination forms are now available and we urge all eligible members to seriously consider nominating if they believe they have something to offer their club.

The Annual General Meeting is set for 10 AM Sunday October 12th and again we urge interested members to attend. This is your chance to put forward your ideas and points of view, Remember all notices of motions must be in the hands of our CEO 21 days before the AGM and items for General Business in writing to the CEO at least 7 days before.

The monthly buffets presented by our wonderful team of Kin and Jenny are proving a big hit and we urge you to try one if you haven’t already.  It is a good idea to book before hand as they are often full to capacity.

As usual we ask that any suggestions you may have for Board or Management discussion be put in writing so that they receive the attention they deserve.
