About Wangi Workers Club

The club was formed by a community-spirited group in the early 50's, and was established on its present site in 1953. It has undergone several upgrades and expansions along the waterfront from its initial corner venue.

Wangi Bay - that portion of the lake which the club overlooks - is a haven for marine craft, with a large number of moorings established. An easy walk from the club along the foreshore is Dobell House - the former residence of renowned artist Sir William Dobell - now open to the public as a Museum and personal tribute to the late Sir William.

Opening Hours
The club's facilities are open to members and guests from 9am each morning.

Closing times are:
Sunday to Thursday inclusive - 10pm
Friday and Saturday - 12 midnight.

Office hours are:
9am to 4pm - Monday to Friday inclusive.
Wangi Shores Retirement Village
The Club is currently undertaking development of Wangi Shores Retirement
Village on its nearby 11 A Dobell Drive property. The Site enjoys a
waterfront reserve location, and features commanding views across Wangi
Bay and Lake Macquarie.

Stage 1, comprising 32 self-contained Units in four residential blocks
nearest the waterfront, are currently selling. A further 46 Units are
planned for Stage 2, together with a Clubhouse, providing a variety of
communal facilities for residents. This will include an indoor/outdoor
heated swimming pool, and spa. Ideally, Stage 2 will follow Stage 1
completion, with an expected 18 month construction programme.

Units are available for long-term lease, under the provision of the
Retirement Villages Act 1999 (and associated Regulations). The
development is being undertaken as a joint-venture with Newcastle-based
construction contractor JML Group / Tekton Pty. Ltd., but on completion,
operational management and control will remain solely with the Club.

Marketing of the Units is occurring through Dowlings Real Estate -
Toronto and Morisset Offices - and enquiries from prospective residents
are welcome.
